Clients are more than an issue or a diagnosis, and therapy needs to reflect this. People need to be understood in their entirety, and therapy should adapt to the whole of what they present. Clients are working to overcome the barriers of mental health struggles, while also trying to function in relationships, work, school, and other important domains of life; I want to help them thrive in all of these settings.
I practice integrative therapy - adapting aspects of various models of therapy to every individual client, in a way that suits their needs best. I understand that clients often experience a number of issues simultaneously - depression and stress, identity exploration and anxiety, etc. Integrative therapy shines in addressing the complexity of the individual.
