Private practice (individual)
My approach to talk therapy is one of empathic understanding of my clients through listening and reflecting, while using a solution-based approach that helps people move from old ways of relating and destructive cycles to practical solutions that bring healing and restoration.

I work with individuals, couples and families to help them manage emotions, discover new insights and new ways of thinking, and learn good communication skills.

My work with individuals of all ages focuses mainly on different types of anxiety, depression, childhood and other traumas, grief and loss, and relationship problems. I utilize an eclectic group of treatment methodologies depending on client goals and needs, including CBT, DBT and positive psychology, all within a solution-focused framework. Most importantly, I emphasize that healing and resolving problems requires more than a new skill or technique, it requires personal growth.

I offer a pre-marital counselling program, as well as a marriage check-up for marriage enrichment. Much of my practice is focused on marriage counselling for couples on the verge of divorce, have experienced betrayal, or are just finding it difficult to connect the way they used to. I encourage a balanced look at what each partner can do individually to turn their marriage around, utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman method. Too often we try to change our relationships by forcing our partners to change, rather than changing ourselves as a way to change our relationship. Ironically the best way to change your relationship is to be the change you wish to see.

I also offer parenting support and counselling for parents who want to try different approaches with their children or who are struggling with their strong-willed child or teen, as well as those in blended families in step-parenting situations.

I would be happy to help you navigate any of these challenges with you.
