Adult Survivors of Child Abuse (ASCA)
This is a recovery group inspired by the 12 step recovery model of Alcoholics Anonymous but following the 21 step model of recovery described by psychologist J. Patrick Gannon in his book "Soul Survivors." It will follow the method presented on the website of The Morris Centre in San Francisco, which Gannon's research helped to inspire. This group will follow material from that website (www.ascasupport.org) and be facilitated by non-professionals in a group process similar to AA and other groups in the recovery movement community, with a specific focus on adults recovering from the psychological results of the emotional, verbal, and physical violence visited on them as children by their parents or guardians.
