John Howard Society of York Region (JHSYR)
John Howard Society works to promote community safety and well-being in York Region. In neighbourhoods and schools throughout the region, we offer programs that are proven to reduce crime and build protective factors in people’s lives. Our programs help people develop life, relationship and coping skills, and are offered to residents of all ages, regardless of whether or not they have been involved in the justice system.

Adult Services include: The Partner Assault Response (PAR) Program, Direct Accountability Program, Federal Diversion, Mindset Program, Reintegration Program, and Record Suspensions.

Youth Services include: The Youth Counselling Program and the Healthy Youth Preventative Education (HYPE) Program.

Special Services During Pandemics (e.g. COVID/Corona), Disasters and Related Emergencies
The Youth Counselling Program is a free program for individuals ages 11-29. This program is designed to build strengths, resilience and coping skills among individuals. Through individualized one-on-one support, the Youth Counselling service provides free weekly sessions to discuss issues affecting their lives. The counsellor will work collaboratively with the individual to enhance their understanding, overcome their challenges and meet their goals. Mindset Program is a group based program which aims to build client awareness and skills toward healthy ways of emotional regulation. This program utilizes techniques based on the principles of CBT. This program is a free for service based program.
