Event Description

We all view the world through the lens of experience. Research has shown that the presence of attuned and responsive caregiving provides children with a strong “blueprint” for healthy relationships and other positive outcomes. Exposure to negative life events and relational trauma influences an individual’s ability to naturally seek adult support with difficult emotion, which can then present as challenging behaviour.

This interactive workshop will
1.Provide an overview of attachment theory
2.Discuss the effects of trauma on the brain and body and
3.Introduce attachment-focused and trauma-informed intervention that can be helpful when supporting children, youth and families that have experienced negative life events.

Target Audience: Clinicians, educators and caregivers supporting children, youth and families impacted by negative life events or relational trauma.
