Event Description

This session will feature our very own Program Manager, Elise Laviolette, in what promises to be a very interesting session. Many families affected by mental illness also experience the effects of shame and stigma. Elise, a professional Art Therapist, will present an interactive session, focusing on creative and art-based approaches to fostering self-compassion and compassion for others. Come learn a simple but powerful collage technique that will help you and your family cultivate the aspects of yourselves that are supportive to your well-being. We will explore playful exercises to help us cultivate a compassionate orientation. We will discover how we can nurture a kinder, more detached, and less judgmental relationship with ourselves and others. All are welcome. No previous art experience required! Elise is a graduate of the Vancouver Art Therapy Institute with a Master’s degree in Counselling and Art Therapy. She also holds a B.A. and an M.Sc.in Psychology.
