A GP Psychotherapist is a general practitioner (family doctor) with additional training in psychotherapy. The General Practice Psychotherapy Association (GPPA) is a non-profit association of GP psychotherapists that develops and protects standards of practice of psychotherapy, provides opportunities for physicians to train in psychotherapy, and advocate for the right of physicians to provide psychotherapy for patients.
