CPSR Overcoming Needle Fear Initiative

We are currently offering free group therapy to adults and adolescents in Ottawa who have been too afraid of needles to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

This 3 hour group will include:

Psychoeducation about needle phobia
Exposure therapy to reduce the fear of needles
The session will culminate in getting the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine

The group therapy will be run by students in clinical psychology at uOttawa under the supervision of clinical supervisors.


If you have not had the COVID-19 vaccine because of the following symptoms, this group might be for you:

Palpitations, sweats, nausea, and/or sleep disturbances when thinking of getting a shot
Feeling embarrassed about being anxious of getting a shot or at previous reactions when getting a shot

Dates and location:

The group will be located at Minto Sports Complex (801 King Edward Ave.).

Dates:

English Adult Group: Nov. 6, 9:30-12:30pm
English Adolescent Group (ages 12-17): Nov. 6, 1-4pm
French Adult Group: Nov. 13, 9:30-12:30pm
French Adolescent Group (ages 12-17): Nov. 13, 1-4pm
