Event DescriptionThis two day course teaches adaptations of dialectical behavior therapy as it is used to treat adolescents. DBT-A is an evidence based therapy which is effective in treating adolescents with multiple problems such as suicidal ideation, self-injury, substance abuse, mood swings, tempestuous relationships with family and others. Focus is on skills in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness and "walking the middle path" for youth and their families. Some working knowledge of DBT is recommended for this course. Applicable for all types of mental health workers dealing with multi-problem youth.
